Eternal Childhood Crush #4: Brad Renfro

My love for Brad is eternal because I think of him at least once a week, think about his potential, think about his public personal decline and the tragedy of his death.

I once woke up late at night and my parents were watching The Client. I sat on the floor of my bedroom, with the lights off and the door open so I could watch the film through their open door. Brad’s presence on screen created an immediate visceral reaction in me, even though I was exceptionally young. He seemed incredibly intelligent and wise beyond his years, but with the sort of troubled past and troubling interiority that I find fascinating in the opposite sex, even to this day.
