My first reaction is one of confusion or confrontation. You’d think, as a black woman, I’d be more familiar with the black form. But I think of myself as a woman first and black second. Race comes into greater play when facing the outside world. And also, I don’t see women like me in the media and in the visual arts in particular. What is the black form? Well it’s many things for one.
