This was the era of the rise of disco (and therefore contemporary dance culture), the emergence of punk and New Wave and the evolution of hip-hop, as well as the equally important introduction of minimalism in the orchestral scene. Intriguingly and compelling, Arthur was involved in all of these scenes, often simultaneously, and so his biography also became a sort of biography of music in New York across the 1970s and 1980s.
