I understand that life is fluid, but chapters hold their purpose. A cliffhanger is not good enough. A beginning and an end can at times be the only way to move on and to move forward. I’m compiling my annual Playing Favorites song list and there are songs and albums I thought came out years ago, not months ago. The narrative of music means that a song can be right for right then and never again. That is okay. Favorite suggests forever and always. But perhaps life is a series of moments and each moment has its purpose and nothing more.
