“Mason Jar” by The Morning Benders

I’m not sure what it is, but The Morning Benders have this undeniable quality that sounds best in slower songs. My favorite songs from Big Echo are “Stitches,” “Sleeping In,” and “Mason Jar,” which is quite a surprise because, like many people I suspect, I was drawn in by “Promises” and “Excuses.” The more I listen to Big Echo though, the more I realize how skilled the group is in constructing these bold, heavy, and rich slow songs that weigh heavily on your mind long after they’ve ended. This is not a bad thing. The slow jams are just so undeniably gorgeous in a way that drags you in, then knocks you out completely.
