So obviously this would be one of my favorite albums from 2008. There was a very intense period this summer where I was beyond obsessed, to the point of madness in terms of listening to this album along with Weirdo Rippers. There are only two albums that clearly define summer 2008 (which was brilliant by the way) and Nouns is definitely one of them. Immediate thoughts that spring up when thinking about Nouns:

1. The cute barista who works at Argo Tea
2. Lemonade
3. The rain and then the heat and then the sun at Pitchfork
4. Crowdsurfing?
5. Sprinklers
6. Liberty print

My friend Katie description of Nouns sums things up perfectly:

it feels like prom night with luke perry and im wearing a yellow bomber jacket. but most 90s tinged songs that are hot get me thinking about buffy the vampire slayer anyway.

Other things on No Age:
“Eraser” was one of my favorite videos of the year. As well, it was my own reconnection with the art of music videos. I think, with the onslaught of web technologies, we tend to forget the things that we loved the most and so, watching this video on my dinky television on Subterranean was, surprisingly, one of my favorite moments of the year. I actually jumped off the couch and crawled towards the screen because it was a music video for a song that I enjoyed and a music video on a screen larger than my laptop, period.

“Teen Creeps,” my favorite song from Nouns is perfect through and through. Those first 10, 15 seconds are spectacular. As I described it this summer, it’s “so fucking ’90s.”

“Here Should Be My Home,” another great track

“Cappo”

No Age has a blog. Did you stalk them like I did?

No Age gave me further incentive to continue objectifying male indie musicians. Of course.

A small assessment of their show at P4K
